New brand gives Regina a strong, united voice

NEWS RELEASE

Regina has a dynamic new way to promote the community as a great place to live, work, visit and invest. The new community brand was unveiled to citizens today at Mayor Pat Fiacco’s annual State of the City Address.

The brand is a system of messages and visuals that will help the entire community promote itself to the rest of Canada and the world. The brand statement Infinite Horizons is supported by creative design elements, a logo, and a set of guidelines to ensure the brand is used consistently and reflects Regina’s opportunities and quality of life.

The brand was developed over a period of 18 months by a committee of community partners, including Regina Regional Opportunities Corporation (RROC), Regina Downtown, Regina Warehouse District, Regina and District Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Regina.

“Early in the process we invested heavily in research and consultation to ensure we developed a brand that was honest and authentic for residents, but would also catch the attention of people outside of Regina,” RROC President and CEO and Branding Committee Chair Larry Hiles said. “We found that opportunity and quality of life were the two big themes for everyone involved. We believe Infinite Horizons describes our community perfectly, and the brand system will help us speak in a strong, united voice.”

RROC and the City of Regina will lead the way as the first organizations to adopt the new brand. A set of guidelines are available for other organizations wishing to adopt the brand.

Today’s launch of the brand includes a new website, infinitehorizons.ca, which will serve as the comprehensive source for anyone seeking information about Regina. Brand elements will also be used at Regina’s presence in Vancouver at the Saskatchewan Pavilion at the Winter Olympics.

Funding for the community brand project was approved by Regina City Council in 2006. The project, including research, strategic messaging development, and creative design, cost approximately $320,000 plus staff resources at the City of Regina. The Branding Committee used the services of McKim Cringan George, a marketing communications agency, and Viewpoints Research to conduct the work.
