Regina's uniquely independent spirit
inspires you to transform opportunity into profitability and achieve
success on your own terms.

In Regina, the environment matters to our economy and to us.

Regina is going green in every way. We’re pushing for environmental answers and showing the country how far ingenuity and inspiration can go. We’ve even hand-seeded 350,000 trees. That means Regina has more trees than people – and more ideas on how to make green a way of life.

Green industries taking
Regina forward.

Local business helping lower greenhouse gases
Regina’s HTC Purenergy is launching the world’s first modular, portable carbon dioxide capture and storage system, which can be retrofitted onto existing power plants or any large industrial greenhouse emitter. It will help lower emissions and create a huge opportunity for existing facilities to become more responsible.

Being green is creating jobs
New research has shown there is significant energy and greenhouse gas benefits from converting petroleum waste to synthetic and hydrogen gases to produce electricity with greenhouse gas capture. That’s polygeneration. It’s a new word that could have a huge positive impact for the environment and the City. In fact, TransCanada Energy is planning a $4 billion polygeneration plant that will require 6,000 person years of construction work for the Regina area.

Leading the way through green research and development
Regina is backing green initiatives across the area. The latest is the planned International Performance Assessment Centre for Geologic Storage of C02 at the University of Regina. This project will help make Western Canada – and the Regina Area – a leader in the deployment and acceptance of Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage.
